High Ridge Smiles High Ridge's theme "The Thrill on the Hill" is evident in the smiles of our members. Proverbs 15 says "a merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance" and "the light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart". So smile!
Our Prayer Garden
Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” Matthew 26:36
Sunday School "A wise man will hear, and will increase learning" (Proverbs 1:5) At High Ridge, we invite the young and the seasoned Christians to join us for Sunday School as we continually grow in the Word.
The congregation and guests celebrated the way church use to be. Service was held in the parsonage field and was followed by an old-fashioned themed feast. Vintage cars and trucks completed the look as we revisited better days.
Queen Pageant High Ridge was honored to have Sis. Kywanda Madison represent our church as our Queen for 2014. At the local level held at Smith River Baptist Association, she won first place. This entitled her to go on to the Virginia Baptist State Convention where she received the 1st place trophy and became one of the youngest winners ever! This is the third time High Ridge has placed at the State Convention. Sis. Priscilla Moore won at Smith River and placed 2nd at State in 2013. Sis. Carolyn Jones placed second in the Smith River pageant in 2012. Sis. Berta Carter won the titles of State Queen & Smith River Queen in 2011.
CYO Activities The CYO exists to engage our young members and to help them grow spiritually. Whether the activities are service-based, educational or just for fun, High Ridge encourages and supports our youth.
Fellowship Banquet 2011 Held each year, this banquet is another chance for members and friends to fellowship outside church walls. Presented by the Pastor's Aid Committee, the banquet is usually held in conjunction with Pastor Arrington's birthday (which is appropriately on February 14th, Valentines Day), hence the red and white color theme.
